Lyric

I am SO excited to share more about my latest Favorite Find! Smylie and I are always looking for ways to make life on the road feel more like home. We do what we can to create a sense of normalcy in our routine on the road. A home-cooked meal or access to a washer & dryer are things we take for granted when we’re at home and it’s like striking gold when we have both when traveling! It’s even better when a rental property is super cool and located in a convenient location to explore the city which we are visiting! Let me introduce you to LYRIC, our new obsession!

I found this amazing company after having a less than ideal hotel experience recently. We decided to check AirBnb and VRBO for potential rentals in Minneapolis for our time at the new PGA Tour event, the 3M Open. We stumbled upon this amazing rental offered by Lyric. After digging deep and researching the company, I found that Lyric’s rentals have outstanding reviews! A kitchen complete with all the essentials, our own washer & dryer, and access to a fully-equipped gym within a nice apartment building? Count us in! The extra perks made this rental a no-brainer for us!

Smart TV (Smylie’s favorite perk)

Locally roasted coffee beans with everything you need to make a barista-level cup of coffee (My dream!)

Frette Linens and Towels

Casper Mattress

Malin & Goetz Toiletries

Digital Access to Unit

High-Speed Wifi

Suite Support (24/7 concierge available to call or text)

What is Lyric?

Lyric is a hospitality startup based in San Francisco, CA. They seek out apartment spaces in upscale buildings in desirable neighborhoods in the cities in which they are currently located. Next, their in-house brand and interiors teams come in and transform units into hotel-like spaces with modern interiors and attention to details. Each “Creative Suite” is designed to reflect local culture and community. Lyric does a great job of giving a nod to the particular city that the guest is visiting. The artwork throughout our rental in Minneapolis was done by a local artist, the album in the record player was Prince (who we discovered is from Minneapolis), and coffee beans from a local roaster were provided.

We found Lyric’s customer service to be top-notch. With “Suite Support”, guests can call or text with any questions or concerns at any time during their stay.

Lyric currently requires a 2 night minimum stay and can be rented directly through the Lyric website, Airbnb, VRBO, and others. We booked directly through the Lyric website. Here’s a little tip: if your dates are not available on one site, be sure to check others as different units are rented through different platforms.

How is it different from a regular rental?

In Smylie’s words: “It’s as close as you can get to a hotel feel in an apartment setting.”
It combines all the things to love about a hotel + all the desirable things about an apartment. The suite has hotel-like amenities for a lower price with more space to spread out—plus a kitchen, and washer & dryer in the unit. Unlike some rental properties where guests are staying in someone else’s home, Lyric Creative suites are for travelers so guests are not inconvenienced by personal items of an owner stashed in closets or cabinets.

As I do with any new rental property, I held my breath as I walked in the door for the first time. I was thrilled to find the apartment was EXACTLY as pictured! Also, the check-in process was seamless. We were texted the door code promptly at check-in time (3pm). Upon arrival, we checked in with the concierge of the apartment building who checked our IDs then granted us access to the elevator. Once at our unit, we simply typed in our code on the digital keypad. Keys were located right inside the door to access the building/elevators for the remainder of the week. A warm welcome of sweet and salty snacks (chocolate covered almonds and handmade potato chips) plus two Voss water bottles were waiting for us on the kitchen counter.

As I mentioned earlier, my favorite touch was the local coffee beans accompanied by instructions and equipment to make a pour-over. It was the best way to start our day!

The washer & dryer included supplies such as laundry pods and dryer sheets to make doing our laundry a breeze. During our stay, we cooked several meals and our unit was stocked with all the kitchen equipment we needed! The bed was very comfortable and we loved the Malin and Goetz toiletries that were provided!

Smylie and I loved the large windows throughout the apartment. This provided beautiful views of downtown Minneapolis.

Our rental also included use of all the amenities the apartment building had to offer. On the 31st floor, there was a fully-equipped gym making it easy to get a workout in at our convenience.

The rooftop patio wrapped around the building with views of the city including Target Field (where the Twins play) and US Bank Stadium (where the Vikings play). A community gas grill, a fire pit, and a pool table available for use by guests are also located on the 31st floor.

The unit we rented is conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis! So many local attractions and restaurants are easily accessible by foot or e-scooter! Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are also in walking distance.
I felt extremely safe with an apartment concierge on duty 24/7, a key fob required to access building and elevator, and a unique code on the digital keypad to unlock the unit.
The ONLY negative of our particular rental was that parking was not included in the rental price. Lyric provided guidance on paid parking in the public parking lot conveniently located across the street from the building and this is the option we chose.
Lyric is currently available in:
Chicago
Dallas
Houston

*New York is “coming soon” according to the Lyric website!
The exciting news? AirBnB just invested $160 million into Lyric, so hopefully they will be in many more cities soon! Check out more about them in this article by Forbes!
I HIGHLY recommend renting with Lyric for your next work trip or vacation! We plan to seek out Lyric properties any time we can! I look forward to watching this company continue to grow (and hopefully they will be featured very soon on my favorite podcast, “How I Built This”)!
Always finding joy,
Francie
